If a candidate does not have proof of a learning difficulty or the support they need for an assessment, here are some steps you can take:
Have a private conversation with the candidate to understand their specific needs and difficulties. This will help you determine the best way to support them.
Use your professional judgment based on your observations and discussions with the candidate. You may also consider input from others who know the candidate's difficulties.
Accept alternative forms of evidence, such as a letter from the candidate’s manager or teacher who understands their needs.
Implement trial adjustments to see how the candidate responds. This can help you determine if the adjustments are effective.
Ensure that a reasonable adjustment application form is filled out and retained with the course paperwork, even if formal proof is not available.
By taking these steps, you can provide the necessary support to the candidate while maintaining the integrity of the assessment process.
