Overview:
Direct Claim Status (DCS) is a quality assurance privilege granted by awarding organisations to Approved Training Centres/Providers (ATC/Ps), Trainer Assessors (TAs) who consistently demonstrate strong internal assessment and quality assurance processes.
With DCS, ATC/Ps and TAs can claim certificates for candidates without waiting for External Quality Assurer (EQA) sign-off, showing trust in their ability to maintain standards independently.
Why is it Important?
- Faster Certification: Candidates’ achievements can be processed more quickly.
- Reduced Delays: No need for EQA approval before certificates are issued.
- Compliance Indicator: Demonstrates robust internal quality assurance.
- Lower Administrative Burden: Less external intervention and paperwork.
How is DCS Achieved?
To be awarded DCS, strict criteria must be met:
- Qualified staff and robust internal quality assurance systems.
- A track record of successful EQA reviews.
- Minor or no outstanding actions from previous audits.
- Consistent reliability in assessment decisions.
Key Points to Remember:
- DCS is not automatic or permanent; it is reviewed regularly.
- It applies to specific qualifications.
- If standards slip, DCS can be suspended or withdrawn.
If you do not have DCS:
- Certification Delays: Candidate results must be reviewed and signed off by RLSS UK Compliance Team before certificates can be claimed.
- Additional Oversight: More frequent quality assurance checks.
- Impact on Delivery: Increased administrative workload.
- Increased EQA Visits: Greater scrutiny and monitoring.
Reinstatement Process
Where DCS has been withdrawn, start by identifying the reasons. Review any communication from RLSS UK Qualifications, which will explain why.
Common reasons include:
- Recurring areas of non-compliance identified during the EQA process.
- Investigation of malpractice within the ATC/P.
- Outstanding payment issues.
If the reason is unclear, contact the RLSS UK Compliance Team for guidance.
In most cases, once all required actions have been completed, DCS will be reinstated.
