What guidance is there for ATC/P’s regarding assessment venue arrangements?

Ensuring the assessment area is properly set up is crucial for maintaining the integrity and fairness of the assessment process. Here are the key points:

Environment: The assessment area should be suitably lit, heated, and ventilated.

Free from Interruption: The area should be free from interruptions. Place suitable signage on the door to avoid unnecessary interruptions.

No Influential Materials: Remove any materials that could influence a candidate’s response, such as candidate resources, notes, flipcharts, and other training materials.

Avoid Collusion: Set up the assessment area to prevent collusion. For practical assessments, arrange first aid equipment appropriately. For theory assessments, arrange tables and chairs to minimise the chance of collusion.

Managing Breaks: Put arrangements in place for candidates who may need to leave the area for reasons such as toilet breaks. Ensure these arrangements prevent the opportunity for collusion.

By following these guidelines, you can create a fair and effective assessment environment.
